Stephenson jabs at junk mail

Amy Stewart | Deseret News | Published: January 28, 2010

While championing education and taking other government entities to task for waste, Sen. Howard Stephenson, R-Draper, vented his pet peeves.

"Some people didn't get the memo we are $875 million in the red," Stephenson said, pointing out he is still receiving just as many holiday greeting cards, calendars and annual reports – with three-color printing – as ever before from state entities.

"These are ugly calenders, even though they are printed in full color," he added. "You wouldn't want them on your wall."
